About Torch

 This is the web site of torch.op.org, the Electronic Publishing House of the English Province of the Order of Preachers. The Friars of the Order of Preachers, also known as Dominican Friars after their founder St Dominic, are a religious order in the Catholic Church dedicated to 'preaching and the salvation of souls'.

This preaching has taken various forms down the ages since the foundation of the Order in the thirteenth century, and torch.op.org is one of the latest ventures in this long tradition. You can find out more about the Dominican Friars at the website of the English Province of the Order of Preachers. From its launch at the beginning of Advent 2000, torch.op.org provides regular preaching specially commissioned for this web site.
